Redefining ferrochrome production
Our Innovation: A $40 million investment in next-generation beneficiation technology.
Traditional ferrochrome production relies on power-hungry, carbon-intensive furnaces that operate for hours to produce a single batch. This conventional process contributes significantly to carbon emissions and struggles to achieve the premium quality and exacting standards demanded by clients for aerospace or high-grade construction applications.
In response, African Chrome Fields has developed a proprietary aluminothermic smelting process that transforms how ferrochrome is made. Our state-of-the-art facility produces ultra-low carbon, high-grade ferrochrome through a chemical reaction that takes minutes instead of hours, dramatically reducing energy consumption while achieving unparalleled quality standards.

Likewise, unlike other mining methods which draw on chemical reductants or fluxes, our approach makes use of aluminium and heat to produce metal concentrates – a process which is more environmentally friendly and avoids introducing impurities such as phosphorous and sulphur.
The result is a highly specialised ferrochrome that sets new industry standards, featuring a notable 63% chrome content, ultra-low carbon levels of 0.5%, and zero harmful contaminants.
