      People

At African Chrome Fields, we believe in the power of what’s possible when people join hands in the spirit of partnership and collaboration.

Our community impact

ACF employs approximately 900 full-time employees, 95% of whom are Zimbabwean citizens. We deeply value the dedication and loyalty of our staff, and remain committed to their well-being by providing comprehensive, free services.

We offer all staff safe, high-quality housing and ablution facilities. Our dedicated dining hall ensures access to three nutritious meals each day, complemented by DSTV television access for relaxation, while employees can also stay fit in our well-equipped gym.

We further provide professional medical services at a modern onsite healthcare clinic, staffed by two full-time paramedics or nurses, and visited regularly by a doctor. Additionally, this clinic extends emergency care services to local community members in need.

Education investment

“African Chrome Fields has played a critical role in supporting our school. We are really grateful for their help, and we hope that they will continue in this spirit so that our learners have a conducive environment to continue learning,” says Amos Manyara, Senior Teacher at Sebakwe Primary School.

In 2023, the nearby Sebakwe Primary School approached African Chrome Fields for aid after the roof of its original classroom collapsed. Believing in the fundamental importance of education, we immediately got to work.

The new school boasts seven modern classrooms, accommodating 250 pupils, and is powered by a solar power system. Students have access to clean drinking water from a borehole and can enjoy fresh produce from the school’s vegetable garden. Additionally, the reconstructed sports fields offer the children the opportunity to enjoy a game of soccer, netball, or handball, while a jungle gym provides a fun and safe play area, all within the safety of a secure, fenced-off area. Finally, every child has received a school uniform, learning materials, and stationery, enabling them to enjoy and make the most of every minute of their schooling experience.

Community empowerment

In addition to supporting the Sebakwe school, African Chrome Fields is deeply committed to empowering and engaging with the communities that surround our operations. We are proud to sponsor a local football team and to watch them play invigorating matches every Sunday on our company football pitch. These weekly games promote physical wellness, teamwork, and most importantly, a strong sense of unity and pride among residents.

Future projects

ACF’s work does not stop there. Through regular donations to other nearby schools, farmers, and families, we continue to invest in the long-term well-being of the region.

      Planet

Respect for the land is a tenet of African Chrome Fields. Even as we seek to realise the benefits of Zimbabwe’s mineral resources for its people, we are keenly aware of our responsibility to safeguard the environment for future generations.

Indigenous nursery for thriving landscapes

With every hectare ACF mines, we aim to restore it to pristine condition, even better than before.

To realise this goal, we have created a dedicated nursery to support swift revegetation and land recovery, featuring over 4,500 individual trees, bushes, and seedlings. This nursery has been so successful ACF has even been approached by other local nature reserves and conservancies to request seedlings and plants.

Ambitious wildlife conservation plans

Taking our environmental efforts yet another step further, ACF plans to roll out an ambitious project for the Moti Family Wildlife Sanctuary, spanning over 585 hectares of land and featuring a 21 million litre dam. Through a partnership with Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management (Zimparks), this conservancy will create a safe haven for Zimbabwe’s iconic wildlife, support tourism in the region, and enable future generations to experience the country’s natural majesty.

The conservancy will be home to over 700 animals of diverse species, including black and white rhinos, white lions, buffalo, oryx, sable, zebra, puka, roan antelope, tsessebe, inyala, and many more.
