Responsible resource extraction

  • No deep mining: Unlike traditional deep-shaft operations, ACF’s chrome reserves are extracted from the first few meters of topsoil of an easily accessible alluvial deposit.

  • No chemicals involved: Chrome is produced from dedicated wash plants that carefully filter the ore from the soil with a simple combination of gravity and water.

  • No harmful effects: The remaining soil is returned to the land and planted with indigenous trees and seedlings grown in ACF’s specially-built nursery.

  • No time wasted: By planting indigenous flora, ACF has accelerated the time needed for environmental rehabilitation from five years to just two years for full restoration.

Situated in the remote valleys of Zimbabwe’s Midlands province, near KweKwe, African Chrome Fields is home to some of the world’s richest chrome deposits, of a higher grade than most international counterparts.

Sustainable approach

Our operations demonstrate that efficient resource extraction and deep-rooted commitment to environmental responsibility can coexist, setting clear standards for sustainable mining in Africa.

Partner for growth and development

ACF is a proud partner in Zimbabwe’s growth, driving the economy through major investment, tax contributions, and job creation, benefitting its fiscus and its people.

Since 2014, we have invested in excess of $200 million into expanding our operations, supporting local businesses and value chains. Today, our seven wash plants across Lalapanzi, Ngezi, and Chinyika Ranch demonstrate our focus on responsible resource development and long-term commitment to the country, with an eighth plant set to become operational in 2026.

Our commitment to operational excellence is evident in our impressive production numbers: we produce 1,000 tons of chrome concentrate daily, with an average monthly output of 30,000 tons. Our high-grade chromium content ranges from 48% to 51%, and we achieve a 12% average retention rate through our advanced alluvial process.

With verified reserves supporting at least a 30-year operational lifespan, we remain dedicated to building lasting partnerships for the future.
